Los Lunas Schools Curriculum District Standards

Curriculum

Currently, the Los Lunas Schools has eight schools that meet the achievement levels established by the New Mexico Public Education Department for No Child Left Behind; one school is a delay pattern; and six schools did not meet state standards for student achievement. During the 2006-07 school year, the district undertook a number of initiatives to improve student achievement, including:

  • hiring instructional coaches in all K to 6 schools
  • the alignment of district curriculum across all content areas, grade levels, and schools;
  • the adoption of a district-wide program of comprehensive literacy;
  • the enhancement of mathematics instruction through the use of research-based classroom interventions;
  • the regular use of short cycle assessment to monitor student progress; and
  • the development of a comprehensive program of staff development.
  • K-6 Standards-Based Report Cards
