Student Nutrition Services "Serving Quality Food to the Children of Today and Tomorrow"Student Nutrition Services InformationLos Lunas Schools Student Nutrition Program is using an automated messaging system to notify parents who pay for their student's meals when their account balance is below $4.00 or if their student has charges for meals. Calls will be made in the afternoon and evening from 1:00PM until 9:00PM and during the day on Saturday and Sunday. This service has been implemented to enhance communication with parents. Parents please make sure the school has your correct phone number so you do not miss these important messages. If you have any questions about this service you may call the Student Nutrition Director or Supervisor at 866-2490. Program InformationThe Los Lunas Schools participate in the National School Lunch and National School Breakfast programs, serving nutritious meals each school day. Over half of our students are eligible for free and reduced-priced meals. If you are interested in applying for the School Lunch and Breakfast Program, you can obtain an application from the cafeteria cashier at your school. All meals served must meet nutrient guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. However, if a child has been determined by a doctor to be handicapped and the handicap would prevent the child from eating the regular school meal, the school will make substitutions prescribed by the doctor. If a substitution is needed, there will be no extra charge for the meal. A current diet prescription from the physician must be provided to the cafeteria staff. In the operation of the Child Nutrition Programs, no child will be discriminated against because of race, sex, color, national origin, age or disability, if you believe you have been discriminated against, write immediately to the Director of the United States Department of Agriculture, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W, Whitten Building, 14th and Independence Avenue, S.W.
