Vision Statement

Our vision is to provide gifted and high potential learners with a consistent and well articulated program model that encourages early identification and fosters innovation in program delivery in a consistent manner across all schools and grade levels. It will provide an accelerated, personalized and differentiated program of studies that challenges and engages students in a positive and nurturing learning environment throughout their K–12 experience.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to offer an exemplary gifted and high potential program that supports high levels of academic achievement and advocates for and meets student needs by:

  • Understanding that gifted students comprehend complex ideas quickly, learn at a more rapid pace, and benefit from instruction that allow time for in-depth exploration;
  • Allowing students an opportunity to accelerate through the curriculum at a pace commensurate to their abilities;
  • Providing students the opportunity to explore their talents, interests, and ability areas and to understand their potential to use them to make positive contributions to their community and the world;
  • Providing program offerings that allow students to develop skills and abilities that encourage lifelong learning;
  • Allowing students to recognize, accept and celebrate differences among individuals and encouraging them to express personal responsibility and caring toward peers, adults, community and self;
  • Insuring that they will learn from qualified and professional staff who will effectively address their academic needs, attend to and nurture their social/emotional needs, be role models as engaged learners, continue to actively seek professional growth opportunities and make all decisions based on what is best for students;

Program Goals

  • To provide a comprehensive K – 12 gifted / high potential program that offers flexible pacing options, including accelerated curriculum, differentiated instruction in both general education and special classroom environments and a continuum of services that is consistent across schools and grade levels within a challenging and rigorous academic atmosphere.
  • To provide gifted / high potential students with supplemental curriculum offerings that enable students to:
    • Think critically and creatively about complex issues
    • Consider system interactions while identifying and solving real world problems
    • Apply information in a way that will impact the community and world in positive ways
    • Demonstrate responsible behavior while working as an individual, a team member, and a leader
    • Communicate effectively through verbal, written and visual expression in multiple settings and to a variety of audiences
    • Explore advanced content
  • To promote partnerships with the business community that allows students to benefit from meaningful mentorship and internship opportunities as well as exposure to a variety of employment opportunities.
  • To allow students to pursue individual interests through meaningful and relevant activities and independent studies
  • To provide clear and understandable guidelines for screening and identification of gifted and high potential students including those that are underachieving.
  • To provide a clear and well-focused challenging program at the High School level that includes defined course taking patterns, options for acceleration and enrichment, a consistent advisory system for students that focus both on IEP and post secondary goals.
