Important Attendance Office Information
To excuse a student’s absence a note from a parent or a doctor’s note is required. If the student is being excused due to a medical appointment it must be followed up with a note from the doctor or dentist. Phone calls are not necessary and will not excuse your student. Your student must bring in their excuses to the attendance office as soon as they return to school. If they do not bring in an excuse within one week their absence will remain unexcused. Per Los Lunas School District policy, the following reasons are excusable absences:
- Doctor’s appointment with a Doctor’s note
-
Illness
-
Death in the family
-
Religious commitment
-
Extenuating circumstances as agreed to by the administration prior to the absence
- Approved school activities
Blue passes for a student to leave campus during school hours are only issued when a parent or a person on the student’s emergency card comes to the school and signs the student out. This person’s I.D. must be shown or the student will not be allowed to leave campus. The student will be required to bring in an excuse upon return to school for any classes that are missed.
