GENERAL INFORMATION

Transcripts
Most colleges, vocational schools, and many employers require a transcript with an application PLUS a final transcript after graduation. Transcripts are not sent automatically . A senior or parent should stop by the registrar’s office to sign a request for their transcript to be sent to a given school. Please provide the address to where you want the transcript sent. It is also important to request the final transcript (in May) be sent to the college that you have selected to attend . All REQUEST REQUIRE A 24 HOUR NOTICE. Ms. Cindy Giron, Registrar, Ext. 261.

Recruiters and Admission Representatives
Recruiters and admission counselors will be visiting our campus all year long. These visitations are announced and recruiters meet with students during the lunch hour in the cafeteria area, their display tables are usually set up next to the patio exit doors.

How to Apply for College…

Get and Stay Organized!

Seniors applying for admission to out-of-state colleges may have to request an application directly from that school, do this as soon as possible . The counseling office has addresses for all colleges in the United States and school profiles for most. Our reference “College Handbook” provides a one-page summary of all colleges. If you have not contacted the college of your choice, do so pronto! If you are applying to several colleges, I recommend keeping an individual file for each. An accordion file is very helpful in keeping track of all your information in one handy location.

Applications for most colleges in New Mexico can usually be obtained from the Counseling Office. In addition, NMSU, UNM, Eastern, NM Highlands, NM Tech and Central NM Community College provide on-site registration at our school. The application fee is waived only at that time . Take advantage of this service!

Cash awards are given to students who demonstrate academic excellence . In addition, many other scholarships are awarded on the basis of community involvement, special talents as well as overcoming challenges in your life.

Local scholarship committees many times do not weigh academic excellence as heavily as most of the state and/or national agencies, foundations, or private committees.
