Home of the fighting TIGERS!

PROGRAMS

This is the pre-engineering program that is totally unique and awesome to LLHS and gaining respect from the students & business community already .
Youth in Government
The Youth in Government program is a nationally recognized activity promoting model legislatures throughout all the 50 states. At LLHS this program is expanded to include a more encompassing curriculum and designed to benefit students designated as Gifted and/or High Potential. The course is "for-credit" and is in the "electives section" of our high school matrix.
Students are receiving the benefit of a near-fifty year-old program preparing them to participate in their local, state, and national government processes. In April (2008) those completing the program begun in August, 2007, will be convening in Santa Fe to occupy the "Roundhouse" and present law-bills, vote, argue cases before the student supreme court, and otherwise legislate for three days as they participate in the student legislative program. LLHS had 25 student attendees in 2007 who were sufficiently prepared to be in their places doing their assigned tasks, and were valid participants in the Y in G program in Santa Fe. Our students did themselves proud receiving praise and recognition for participation at Santa Fe as well as credit for the
course at LLHS.
Renaissance
• Many incentives will be spontaneous pleasant surprises to reward excellent behavior, attendance and academics.
• Many incentives will coincide on the same day (ex: assembly, early release from classes, free admittance to big game that night, pizza party and wear shirts all on same day)
• Other programs such as Tiger Tails and Student/Staff of the Month will also be implemented through the RENAISSANCE program. More information will be forthcoming through press releases, school announcements and flyers on the school site.
LOS LUNAS HIGH SCHOOL prepares students to become productive citizens by developing relationships, incorporating relevance, and instilling rigor into their education
