Jessica Montano
Assistant Superintendent
Jessica Montano currently serves as Assistant Superintendent overseeing Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability. Before then, Jessica was the Director of Secondary Learning Innovations for Los Lunas Schools for two and a half years. Prior to that, she was the Principal for Katherine Gallegos Elementary. She also previously served as Assistant Principal for Los Lunas Middle School and Valencia High School. Jessica was a secondary classroom teacher for 15 years before getting into administration and has served Los Lunas Schools for more than 24 years. She earned an administrative certification from ENMU, a masters in counseling from NMHU and bachelors in education from UNM. Jessica, her husband and her daughter are all Los Lunas High School graduates and her son is a proud Jaguar at VMS.
Suzy Chavez
Director of Professional Learning
Suzy Chavez, is the Director of Professional Learning for Los Lunas Schools. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Eastern New Mexico University and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. A proud graduate of Los Lunas Schools, she has been serving Los Lunas Schools for 24 years. She was a teacher for the district for 17 years, a Professional Learning Coach for 2 years, and the Assistant Principal and Principal of Valencia Elementary for 4 years prior to becoming the Director of Professional Learning Innovations. Suzy oversees and supports professional development for the district as well as Title I and Title II Grants, and SAT.
Karla Dow
Director of Assessment and Accountability
Karla Dow, Director of Assessment and Accountability, has been an educator for 18 years. First as a classroom teacher with Belen Schools, then as an assistant principal and principal with Los Lunas Schools at Valencia Elementary. Karla has a BA in Advertising and Marketing, a BA in Spanish, Education Administration, and received her MBA in Education Leadership at the University of New Mexico as a Woodrow Wilson Foundation Fellow thru Anderson School of Management. Karla is an Apple Certified teacher, a member of the International Society for Technology in Education cohort, and a NM Public Education Department Thrive Performance Coach. Her responsibilities as director include assessments, Extended Learning Time programs, student transfer processes, PowerSchool Systems, registrations, state reporting, and performance coaching thru NM PED Thrive initiative. As part of the Learning Innovations team, Karla Dow also helps to plan professional development for Los Lunas Schools staff.
Monica Rivera
Director of Elementary Programs
Monica Rivera, is the Director of Elementary Programs for Los Lunas Schools. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix and an administrative certification from Grand Canyon University. She began her career in education as a teacher in El Paso, Texas and has been with Los Lunas Schools since 2013. She served as a teacher at Raymond Gabaldon Elementary, an Academic Coach with elementary and secondary schools, Assistant Principal and Principal at Tomé Elementary. Her responsibilities as Director of Elementary Programs include; elementary curriculum and materials, District Literacy Plan, Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant, Summer Learning Academy, Bilingual Programs, Title III Grant, performance coaching and assisting the Academics team in developing and leading professional development.
Chelsey Servantes
Director of Secondary Programs
Chelsey Servantes is the Director of Secondary Programs. She has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Life Science. She also obtained her master's degree from UNM in Educational Leadership. During her career in education, she has served as a high school science teacher, academic coach, and Assistant Principal at Valencia High School. Through this role, Chelsey serves Los Lunas Schools by ensuring curricular alignment in all Secondary Schools including college and career readiness through Dual Credit, Advanced Placement, and Career Tech Education. She also ensures pathways for student success and enrichment including Fine Arts and Bilingualism and Biliteracy. To support these goals she manages the Perkins, Next Gen, Innovations Zone, Title IV, and Fine Arts grants.
