Facility Concerns

At Los Lunas Schools, we are committed to maintaining safe and high-quality learning environments for all students. To ensure facility concerns are addressed effectively, we ask that our community follows a respectful, step-by-step resolution process provided below.

  1. Communicate Respectfully
Respectfully discuss your concerns, and work together to seek a mutually-beneficial resolution. Remember that everyone has the same goal: your student’s best interest, and those of all the students in your school. Please allow twenty-four hours for a response. The formal complaint process may be found in Board Policy, but for informal concerns, please do the following:
  2. Social media
Please note that posting information regarding your concerns on social media, may result in a parent waiving FERPA rights.
  3. Start at the school site level
If you have a concern, begin by contacting your student’s school site administrative team. Discussing the issue with the school’s administrative team can often resolve facility related concerns at the site level. If repairs are needed, the school site administrative team will submit the appropriate work order request to the Facilities Department.
  4. Escalate to the Facilities Department if Needed
If the issue cannot be resolved at the school site level, you may schedule a meeting or phone call with a Los Lunas Schools Facilities Department Administrator to further discuss the concern. The Facilities Department can be reached at 505-866-4742.
  5. District office
If after discussing the situation with the Facilities Department you still feel there has not been a satisfactory resolution, you may refer the concern to the district level and the site’s advocate. List of advocates
  6. Superintendent's office
If the issue is still not resolved after going through all the steps above, please contact the Superintendent's Office at (505) 865-9636/Fax (505) 865-7766.
  7. Model appropriate behavior
Young people learn how to handle real-life situations from the behavior exhibited by the adults around them. This process provides a framework parents can use to teach their children courteous, respectful, and effective ways to resolve conflicts.
