Student Mentorship Program

The LLS Student Mentorship Program is designed to provide high school seniors with employment experience with students with special needs. The mentors spend at least one hour per day with their mentee. Students are paid $14 an hour. If you are a senior at Los Lunas High School, Valencia High School or Century High School and you are interested in becoming a Student Mentor, please apply online.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Must be a Senior at a Los Lunas Schools high school
  • Possess compassion, patience, flexibility, and motivation
  • Set appropriate boundaries and maintain professionalism

Job Description:

LLS Student Mentors serve a social role models for students with special needs in elementary and secondary schools. LLS Student Mentors will:

  • Spend at least one hour each day with mentee
  • Serve as a role model, exhibiting enthusiasm, motivation, and involvement
  • Exercise good judgment in representing Los Lunas Schools
  • Model appropriate social skills and behaviors
  • Attend and participate in scheduled orientation and training
  • Maintain timely and consistent correspondence with assigned mentee
  • Turn in time card by pay periods to site supervisor
