All Los Lunas Schools students are welcome to return to their schools if they choose beginning Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Families have the option to continue with remote learning through the remainder of the school year.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What happens if students get sick?
If your child exhibits any COVID symptoms and/or has a fever at home, they should not be sent to school. A student at school who begins exhibiting COVID-19–like symptoms will go to a designated Care room. The student will remain in the Care room until they can be picked up as soon as possible after contact is made with the parent(s).

Will my child be safe?
Schools have in place COVID-safe practices including daily temperature checks for staff and students, mask-wearing, hand washing, and social distancing to the greatest extent possible. LLS has made appropriate air filtration upgrades to greatly reduce the likelihood of viral spread. Additionally, school custodians are using frequent cleaning and sanitization protocols.

What options do I have if I’m not ready to send my child back for in-person learning?
Your child may continue learning remotely through the current school year if that is your choice.

What about transportation?
Bus routes will resume. Bus drivers will implement social distancing rules to the greatest extent possible. More information on bus pickup and drop off times will become available soon.

Will my child have to change teachers (either in building or fully remote)?
To the best of our ability, we will try to keep the students with their same teachers.

Will the schedule be the same as it is now for Fully Remote Learning?
Specific schedule details are still being determined and will be shared with families as soon as possible. These may vary slightly by school based on students and staff.

How can I get more information?
Your school will provide you with more detailed information as it becomes available. If you have questions, reach out to your child’s teacher or school administration. Additionally, you may continue to access the Los Lunas Schools website for district updates.

Fully Remote Learning – what will it look like?
It is the goal of LLS to continue with synchronous instruction for whole group and small groups as planned. Due to staffing limitations, which are unique to each school site, there could be unique variations.

In Person Learning - what will it look like?
Students will receive full instruction in the building with a classroom teacher. Structured recess with Covid-safe practices will be provided. Students will receive instruction in art, music, and PE classes as usual. Canvas will still be used for materials, resources, and assignments based on grade level and teacher discretion.
