This year the New Mexico Public Education Department has applied for a waiver for the following federally required assessments:

ACCESS for English Language Learners - measures English language proficiency for students who are identified as English Learners.

Dynamic Learning Maps - alternative assessment for students whose Individualized Education Program teams have determined that the general education assessment is not appropriate.

New Mexico Measures of Student Success and Achievement - measures mastery in math and language arts in grades 3-8.

SAT - measures math and language arts in grade 11.

New Mexico Assessment of Science Readiness - measures science proficiency in grades 5,8, and 11.

Federally required assessments MUST be administered securely, in person at a school site. Current social distancing and safety protocols must be followed at all times. 

For spring 2021, the New Mexico Public Education Department is establishing a flexible testing model. Participation or non-participation will not penalize or negatively impact students, schools, or districts.
